Quality of Print: The d20 Modern Core Rulebook impresses with its solid hardcover and impeccable print quality. The images are clear, and the text is highly readable, making it a durable addition to any gamer's collection.

Product Review d20 Modern is a weird sidetrip in the D20 history. Its attempt to adapt D&D mechanics to a variety of contemporary and futuristic settings makes it a fascinating study for enthusiasts, but unless you have a group that is eager to do some d20 Modern, it is very much for the hardcore fans.

Personal Experience: Already possessing Urban Arcana and the Menace Manual, acquiring this core book was essential for me to utilize my existing collection fully. Very happy I could get a print copy of this.

Would also buy d20 Weapons Locker, d20 Future, d20 Past, d20 Apocalypse, and d20 Future Tech if these showed up as Print on Demand.

I already own 2 paper copies of this book, but wanted to add a digital version. This is a great system and book, but this is a poor scan. This pdf is human-readable but throughout there are whole chunks of text that have not been OCR'd correctly. This makes it useless for a screen reader or other accessibility tools. The issue is the background image on the gutter side column of the page. There is not sufficient contrast in the scan for the optical character recognition software to distinguish the text from the background image, so 2-5 words are missing from each sentence throughout several paragraphs on almost every page. I have paper copies of all the other d20 Modern, Future, Apocalypse, Dark Matter and Call of Cthulhu books and I am buying the OEFs as they become available. In comparison the scanned d20 Modern Core Rulebook is sub-optimal. It is not even on par with other scanned and OCR'd books I have bought from the DND Classics line. Hopefully, WOTC will do the right thing and re-scan with better settings.

Update: WOTC re-scanned and updated the file on 2021-07-28. Note, this is a scanned copy that has been OCR'd. The filesize on the new version is about double the size (122MB) of the previous version. This has resolved the missing text. It took a while, but it has been fixed.

As it have been said its not good, when I tried to print it´s ok to page 101 then "picture, paintings" in the pages marginals expand into the text and makes it unreadable...

Right. This is not the original OEM pdf. But, in all honesty, it is better than any other PDF that I have been able to find out there. The only thing that could make it better is hyperlinks in the table of contents, the index and throughout. But, for me it is the best version I can find and $10 was worth it.

As far as the game itself, it is good for what it is. Yes, the system has flaws, as do most RPG systems. But it is consitent enough with D&D 3.5/d20 that it is usable for modern games by people familiar with the 3.5 system.

That's why d20 Modern is used in 1 of the games that I play in and 1 that I DM. And, for the record, I have also played and/or DMed D&D 2e, D&D 3/3.5/d20, Pathfinder (player only), Star Wars Saga Edition (player only), D&D 4e and D&D 5e. Each system has its own benefits and drawbacks. But we play what the DM is comfortable DMing and the players are comfortable with and want to play.

OneBookshelf has corrected their incorrect listing of the is book as an original electronic file. I am disappointed that it is not an original electronic file, but that does not change the fact that this is a great game. I have always felt that d20 modern was like a toolkit that you could take pieces from and build what you like. I strongly recommend it. I would have given it five stars if it was an original electronic file.

As one of the other posters pointed out, this is a scanned and OCR'd edition, NOT the original electronic file. It is being advertised as text searchable, but not all the text has been OCR'd. This means that it is not completely text searchable and it doesn't look anywhere near as good as an original electronic file would. Thanks for taking my money!

The product is advertised as an OEF file, but is a scanned and OCRed file. The only change from the original file I bought in 2009 is the addition of bookmarks.
